Barnardo's are looking for a very special kind of volunteer to help us to make the most of opportunities to engage people with our work and to raise funds through events in the area.

Purpose of opportunity:

Do you love organising fun activities which bring people together? Are you looking for a career in events, but don't have the experience? Do you want to gain valuable experience in the charity sector? Do you want to do something to help vulnerable children?

We are looking for energetic, imaginative and organised people from around the UK to volunteer in groups as Event Fundraisers for Barnardo's

As a group we would like you to run at least 2 fundraising activities over the academic year with the aim of raising at least £700 to help continue our work with children and young people. These can be whatever you want, from a film night to a speed dating event, a fashion show to a 5-a-side football tournament

Barnardo's needs exciting, fun and engaging new fundraising ideas to appeal to everyone and help increase our fundraising at a local level. Your will need to inspire people, make them smile and give them an enjoyable experience while raising money for vulnerable children.

Ask groups of friends or colleagues to help you plan and organise your event or activity, and you'll get support from Barnardo's Community Fundraising Team to help make your fundraising a success.

1. Work with our Community Fundraising Team to plan and organise a series of fundraising events in your local area
2. Share your successes, trick and tips so that others can repeat your events and raise even more for children and young people

Attitude/skills/knowledge required:
• Good overall communication skills (verbal, written and telephone)
• Presentation skills and the ability to vary presentation to suit different audiences
• Ability to speak to a variety of community groups with confidence and enthusiasm
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
