Part-Time Accounts Administrator, Exeter, Devon
Reporting to: Managing Director
Salary Guide: £17,500 pro rata for 3 days a week
As the position is part time, it is envisaged that some of the daily tasks will be shared with the Sales Administrators.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To raise cheque and BACS payments
- To raise sales invoices
- To prepare banking and input all customer receipts To check, code & input purchase ledger invoices
- To ensure that suppliers are paid to agreed terms & post onto ledger
- To code and post non S/L and P/L bank transactions
- To perform daily bank reconciliations and monitor cashflow
- To be responsible for the petty cash balance, issuing cash & posting of transactions
- To review aged debtor balances and chase payment where necessary
- To perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- To run monthly payroll (6 persons) ensuring PAYE & NI compliance
- To prepare and post monthly accruals and prepayments
- To reconcile monthly gross profit to administrators' spreadsheets
- To prepare and post monthly recurring journals
- To prepare monthly Management accounts
- To prepare quarterly VAT Return and ensure VAT compliance
- To assist the Managing Director on accounts department duties as required
Essential skills & attributes
- Qualified to AAT level or qualified by experience
- At least 2- 3 years experience of working in an accounts department preparing accounts to trial balance stage
- Ability and experience of accurately preparing bank reconciliations
- Has a sound knowledge of Sales ledger and Purchase ledger tasks
- Is methodical, organised and has good attention to detail
- Confident and able to work on own initiative without supervision
- IT literate in Microsoft Word & Excel, e-mail systems & accounts packages
- Friendly and able to build good working relationships
- Sound academic record at GCSE to A Level
- Working knowledge of payroll administration
Desirable skills & attributes
- Minimum of 6 months experience of using SAGE or QuickBooks accounting packages
- Experience of preparing Management accounts from accounting record
